On The Snow
 In
Western North Carolina you don’t have to stay
indoors during the winter months – take advantage of
the cold and spend some time out on the slopes!
Few people outside of the Southeast realize that
Western North Carolina is quickly becoming a
reputable name in the snow sports world. Here in
Scaly Mountain you can venture to the southernmost
point for snow tubing in the Southeastern United
states at Scaly Mountain Snow Tubing Area; a warm,
friendly, family-oriented resort that offers snow
tubing to families all across the southeast. The
resort features a large parking area with easy
access to the slopes, a full service restaurant
serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and slopes
suitable for kids and adventure lovers alike. Our
lodge also features a large wood-burning stove where
you can warm up while you watch the excitement on
the slopes.
If you’re looking for skiing and snowboarding, there
are a number of well known ski areas to the
northeast of us. The first you will come to is
Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley, which offers
slopes that both beginners and experts can enjoy.
Next you will find Wolf Ridge Ski Resort in Mars
Hill NC. Wolf Ridge recently expanded their terrain
park, added a ˝ mile trail and a quad lift. Further
north you’ll come to the towns of Banner Elk and
Boone NC where you’ll find four more ski areas – Ski
Beech Resort, Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, Hawksnest
Ski Resort, and Appalachian Ski Mountain. Each of
these resorts features groomed slopes, ski and
snowboard rentals, and friendly staffs. |
